While changing our personal habits is a good start, we also need strong action from the federal government. Send a message now to the Prime Minister, calling for stronger laws to protect Canadians' health from toxic chemicals. |
Dear Mr. Harper,
I applaud the Canadian government for recently designating bisphenol A (BPA), a known hormone disruptor, as a toxic substance. Your decision is clearly in the best interest of Canadians given that scientific studies have linked BPA to breast and prostate cancer, learning disabilities, obesity, heart disease, diabetes and recurrent miscarriages. BPA is a hazard to human health, especially to children who are most vulnerable to the effects of toxic pollutants.
Yet, bisphenol A isn't the only harmful chemical found in products that Canadians use every day.
We need strong government laws to truly protect the health of Canadians, particularly our children.
I urge your government to take the next steps in protecting Canadians from toxic chemicals: create a strong, effective Consumer Product Safety Act that protects families from lead, bisphenol A, and other harmful chemicals that are currently found in our products.
Thank you.
